To get rid of it for the time being, you could try placing an empty text widget in the space. Unfortunately that will still leave a small space due to the padding on that widget.</p> <p>Alternatively, a more technical approach is to go into sidebar.php and remove all of the code between lines and 7 and 31. That will remove the default navigation behaviour.</p> <p>The behaviour is quite typical in WP - if there are no widgets in the main sidebar, default to some basic widgets. However, we can see the problem... a user may wish to implement one or two thin sidebars only and they won't want the default navigation any more.
