    Sorry, 'nother noob Q. Apart from using sidebar/having a page /changing date is there some way I can have a permanent intro at the top of the posting page?

    I have to admit, I haven't tried it, but WordPress 2.7 has a sticky post option. I've never tried to use it where blog posts are placed inside a page, but as both features are standard WP functionality I don't see a problem with that.

    The way to set a sticky is when editing or writing a post, in the Publish box you'll see a visibility link, with edit next to it. Click edit, it'll expand, and you should see an option marked as "Stick this post to the front page" - this should do the trick, but I've never tried it in such a context. Let us know how you get on.

    The Sticky plug in: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-sticky/ is the thing. East, effective, etc. Don't you just love WordPress when it does that?
